最初の産業用ロボット

ユニメートは組立ラインで稼働した最初のロボットとなった。1961年、ゼネラルモーターズはニュージャージー州トレントンの工場に導入し、ダイカストマシンからの取り出し作業に用いた。高温の鋳造部品を機械から取り上げる工程である。Unimation は、人にとって困難・危険あるいは単調な作業を担わせるためにこれらの機械を製造した。
