ImageNet Breakthrough

Era: Revival · 1990s–2010s

Alex Krizhevsky, Ilya Sutskever, and Geoffrey Hinton’s team entered AlexNet in the 2012 ImageNet competition (ILSVRC) and won by a landslide: a top-5 error of 15.3%, against 26.2% for the runner-up.
